Mossy and Mom
Calving time is usually late
summer and an exciting time at
the Yak Outback
Solar Panels at Sunset
410 watts of solar panels and 3
roof-mounted wind generators
power the facility.
New Limerick, Maine
The Yak Outback . . . a nice place to be. Here in the northern reaches of
Maine is the home of 12 lovable and docile yaks so tame that they
have just about moved in. In fact, they have! It's a comfortable 47 acre
homestead filled with personality, charm, fiber, and lots of adventure.
Leaving Only a Light Footprint
An eco-friendly place where sustainable living and renewable energy
technologies are used. All power is generated on site using solar
panels and roof-mounted wind generators with rare use of a power
generator. Hay is cut by hand and harvested from 10 or so acres of
cleared meadowland with plenty of space left for the yak to roam and
graze.

The Yak Outback
 | | A healthy alternative to beef .but I don't raise them for meat!
|
 | | Good fiber animal . . . but I haven't learned how to spin yet!
|
 | | Great pack animal . . . but they have me trained to do otherwise!
|
Good Grief! Then why raise yak?
 | | Great companions and (mostly) trouble-free pets.
|
 | | Inquisitive and most definitely adventuresome.
|
 | | Never-ending supply of belly laughs!
|
 | | A lifetime of stories to tell!
|
 | | Highly adaptable to even the most bizarre requests! |
